Catechist: A catechist is entrusted with the important role of formally presenting the story of Faith to our young people in ways that enable them to see and experience faith as a “living reality.” Catechists make a weekly commitment to plan and guide a class of no more than 15 students from mid-September through June.

Catechists are required to attend 9am Mass, teach from 10am to 11:30am every Sunday (except holidays weekends), and attend special meetings, events and retreats. A schedule for the year and a catechist’s teaching manual, suggesting activities and giving tips on how to plan a lesson are provided.

Liturgical Catechist/CLOW Leader: Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) is a special part of the 9am Sunday Liturgy. It is held weekly, except the first Sundays of every month and holidays weekends, for children from 3 years old through 3rd grade who are invited to hear the Word of God in a manner especially prepared for children. Prior to the Scripture readings, the children are called forth by the celebrant, who blesses them, and are then led in procession to the West Room by the Liturgical Catechist/CLOW leader. The children then return to the main church and their families during the Preparation of the Gifts while the congregation is seated and singing. CLOW leaders are required to attend special meetings, events and retreats.

Assistant to Catechist: The role of an assistant is to offer classroom management support to the catechist. The assistant works with a child who needs extra assistance and participates in classroom activities.

The assistant helps prepare the lessons and is ready to teach if needed. Assistants are required to attend special meetings, events and retreats.

Background checks are required for catechists, assistants to catechists and CLOW leaders.

Clerical Assistant: Helping the Director of the Religious Education Program in the following tasks

• Photocopying necessary documents
• Organizing file in DRE’s office
• Updating Data Base
• Helping to prepare the environment of rooms for workshops, parties, services, sessions
