The central priority of X.I.C is to provide opportunities to the parishioners of St. Francis Xavier in raising awareness, respect for, and knowledge of the diversity of the world’s religions.
Through interfaith dialogue, education, social events, prayer and in many other ways, the activity of X.I.C is dedicated to ending religious ignorance, discrimination and persecution.
X.I.C responds to the Xavier Mission Statement by its commitment to the spirit of inclusion and collaboration. Further, the committee strives to implement the vision of Vatican II as expressed in the document Nostra Aetate, which encourages fellowship and vibrant exchange with people of other religions.
Finally, as stated in the 34th General Congregation on inter-religious dialogue, “the parish opens itself progressively to ecumenical inter-religious dialogue and…grow(s) into a participative church through such means.”
