John grew up in Queens, NY and graduated from Williams College (BA, history) and New York University (MA, educational psychology). Prior to entering the Jesuits in 2000, he often worshipped at St. Francis Xavier and volunteered at the Welcome Table and the GED program.
John did his Jesuit studies at Loyola University Chicago (MA, philosophy) and Boston College (MDiv, STL) and taught religion at Xavier High School in Manhattan. After ordination in 2010, he did a pastoral year at St. Anthony’s in Oceanside, LI. He was then missioned for seven years to Yap, Micronesia to help start Yap Catholic High School, where he also taught English and math. His joy was criss-crossing the small island doing pastoral ministry. Most recently, he completed a nine-month tertianship program in Portland, Oregon, in preparation for his final vows as a Jesuit.
