The Racial Justice Ministry sent a letter of support to Bishops Louis Kihneman, Bishop of Biloxi, and Joseph Kopacz, Bishop of Jackson, for their public commitment to eradicating the sin of racism. The ministry received beautiful responses from Bishops Kopacz and Kihneman.
The group is currently reading, discussing and doing healing exercises from My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies by Resmaa Menakem. New participants are welcome to join us.
Members of the Racial Justice Ministry are also involved in other work such as collaborating with the Poor People's Campaign, working to pass the HALT bill to end solitary confinement, collaborating on interfaith initiatives for racial justice, and exploring the effects of microaggressions.
If you are interested in any of these initiatives or to receive the link to our next meeting, please contact Fr. John Mulreany at [email protected].
Our next meeting will be November 8th at 3pm via Zoom.
